At the end of September, Friday the 13th developer Illfonic’s co-founder Raphael Saadiq revealed his studio was working on a new Ghostbusters game. The game hasn’t been officially announced and nothing else had been said since then. However, earlier this week Ghostbusters actor Ernie Hudson confirmed he was “doing another video game” in a CelebFanFest Film Festival panel streamed live by Countdown City Geeks.

Hudson has played the role of Winston Zeddemore since the very first Ghostbusters movie in 1984 and resumed the role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife that hit theaters last month. He revealed during the panel that he’d not long received an e-mail “because we’re doing another video game” and the developer would like him to be the voice actor for Winston’s role. The unmentioned developer, assumed to be Illfonic, is “scheduling it now to do the recording”.

Whether any of the other actors will join him remains to be seen. Hudson believes Dan Ackroyd will also be reprising the role of Dr. Raymond Stantz although he wasn’t sure if Bill Murray would be returning as Dr. Peter Venkman. Hudson also revealed he’d been helping with the prototypes for Winston’s likeness in-game, although the developers “seem to have a hard time” creating an accurate appearance: “It’s so weird to me that they can get Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis to look exactly like they look, but I end up looking like Eddie Murphy or somebody.”

You can view the first part of the panel in its entirety below, including ore on why Hudson decided to reprise his role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and what he’d have liked to have taken away from the original Ghostbusters movie.

Little else was divulged about the game. We don’t know whether it will be an independent story or where the game will fit into the franchise lore. We also don’t know potential platforms or have any idea of a release window. However, we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything more.
