With the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some trivia, secrets, Easter eggs and history of the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 was Nintendo’s third home console for the international market, and was home to some of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, including Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Code-named Project Reality, and originally titled the Ultra 64, the Nintendo 64’s launch was delayed several times until 1996. The system competed primarily with disc-based systems such as the PlayStation and the Sega Saturn, which many believe played a hand in the consoles sub-par sales. Through our analysis of the system’s history, the gameplay of its games and their beta builds, we hope to bring you some little-known facts of the N64.
