During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Disney and Gameloft announced hero-based free-to-play kart racer Disney Speedstorm. The game is in development for unspecified consoles and PC, and although a release date has not been announced yet, the companies have said that it’ll be out “soon.”

In the meantime, you can pre-register on Disney Speedstorm’s official website for a chance to be one of the first ones to play the game. You’ll also get updates and exclusive sneak peeks.

What exactly is Disney Speedstorm?

Disney Speedstorm is a battle racer that’s set on circuits inspired by Disney and Pixar properties. Made by the creator of Asphalt series, the title promises a thrilling arcade racing experience. According to Gameloft, Disney Speedstorm will welcome experienced racers as well as newcomers. “Anyone can pick up and play Disney Speedstorm but mastering skills and techniques like timing your nitro boosts, precisely drifting around corners, and adapting to dynamic track environments are crucial to dominating each race,” reads an official description.

Disney Speedstorm will feature “an incredible cast” of Disney and Pixar characters. Captain Jack Sparrow, Mulan, Mickey Mouse, Sulley, and the Beast have been confirmed thus far. Each racer’s stats can be upgraded, and together with their unique skills, you’ll be able to turn races in your favor.

“From the docks of Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Pirates Island track to the wilds of The Jungle Book‘s Jungle Ruins map, and even racing on the Great Wall of China itself from Mulan or the Scare Floor from Monsters, Inc., you can experience these worlds from a fresh, exciting perspective geared specifically for racing,” Gameloft said. The developer has also promised regular content drops.
