When the new PS Plus tiers launched in Asia on May 23, players who had existing PS Plus subscriptions reported discrepancies between PlayStation Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium upgrade fees. Sony later blamed these on a “technical error” following a rather vocal social media backlash and promised to compensate affected players. This has started rolling out to players, but instead of getting around $10 for their inconvenience, PS Plus players are instead getting completely the wrong compensation amount of 10 cents.

PS Plus Wrong Refunds

Players caught up in the original PS Plus pricing discrepancies were sent the email above, as noticed by Reddit. This explained how they were overcharged for their PlayStation Plus upgrade when the service first launched. As such, they would receive a full refund of the amount they overpaid as well as HK$80 (around US$10) in compensation to be deposited into their account to be used on the Playstation Store. Sony also apologized for any inconvenience.

The problem is players didn’t receive HK$80 in compensation. As reported by GamingSym, multiple players checked their accounts as instructed by the email and found they had received just HK$0.80 (around US$0.10) instead. Sony is yet to make any statement on this new problem, although it will likely be blamed on another “technical error”. Sony is also still to make a comment on recent reports that PS Plus upgrade fees would be capped for players who had stacked their PS Plus Essential subscriptions for several years and had been previously facing extortionate bills to upgrade their subscriptions for the entire duration.

In other news, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was unveiled today with a new trailer and Infinity Ward confirmed the open multiplayer beta would be heading to PS5 and PS4 first. Elsewhere, God of War Ragnarok’s placeholder release date was reportedly changed on the PSN backend, sparking rumors of a delay.
