Having originally been unveiled in March 2022 under the Urban Venture name, a new name and release date awaits that of Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator.

Switching up the name in order to fit in with Nacon’s whole ‘Life’ family franchise, Taxi Life was originally destined to launch into Steam via Early Access. That changes now too though, with full launch planned on PC and consoles with a 1.0 version in 2023.

Created by the team at Simteract, Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator pretty much does what it says on the tin, placing you into the shoes of a taxi driver working their way through the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. It’s the Spanish metropolis which is the focus for Taxi Life, as you jump behind the wheel and start getting used to the usual real life situations – traffic jams, weather changes, bumpy roads, impatient passengers and accidents.

Of course, your job in Taxi Life is to help transport the folk of Barcelona from point to point, but unlike Crazy Taxi or Taxi Chaos, this should be a much more sedate, realistic affair – so much so that you’ll need to keep on top of all things taxi; paying bills, fixing your car and managing a fleet of drivers.

The rebrand from Urban Venture to Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator helps it fit in with Nacon’s Life series of games – Hotel Life, Chef Life etc… This is a series which focuses on real-world professions and lets you get on with the job at hand.

Nacon’s Head of Marketing, David Talmat, explains taking in Taxi Life as an easy decision, “a great concept we know gamers will love, a great city to explore, and this concept of driving but also managing your company. This is exactly what we look to deliver in Life games.”

“We realized we had an ambitious project at hand and turn to Nacon as we worked very well together on Train Life. Our goal with Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator is to show the skills of our talented team, building a representation of Barcelona on a 1:1 scale that truly feels real; a chance for people to get a one-of-a-kind city driving sim experience,” explains Marcin Jaśkiewicz, CEO of Simteract.

You can wishlist Taxi Life on Steam right now. Expect to find this stopping off near you in 2023.
