Forspoken sales don’t appear to be off to a great start. The game is already being outpaced by Dead Space remake at retail and Hi-Fi Rush on Steam. Now, Sony has revealed that it didn’t really do well in January 2023’s PS Store download charts either.

Forspoken sales outpaced by older games

With just four days on the market, Dead Space was the second most downloaded PS5 game in U.S. and Canada, and the fourth most downloaded game in U.K. and Europe. Forspoken, which released three days prior to Dead Space, debuted at no. 7 in U.S./Canada, and at no. 5 in U.K./Europe.

It’s unusual for a PS5 console exclusive to debut so low in the charts, and be beaten to the top by older games. In January, the unstoppable Grand Theft Auto V was no. 1 in both regions (seriously, we can’t explain this one anymore), followed by games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, FIFA 23 (U.K/Europe), and NBA 2K23 (U.S./Canada).

Thanks in part to the success of the HBO show, The Last of Us Part 1 re-entered the top ten in both U.S./Canada and U.K./Europe.
