Capcom has discovered a Resident Evil 4 remake game-breaking bug that can prevent players from progressing through the game. This bug appears during Chapter 12 and can impact users on all platforms, with PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC being affected.

Resident Evil 4 remake game-breaking bug found in Chapter 12

The Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 12 bug is triggered when players attack with the knife while obtaining a new key item. If players trigger this bug, they won’t be able to advance through the game.

An official warning was issued via the @RE_Games Twitter account:

At the time of writing, Capcom is working on a fix that should both stop the issue from happening in the first place, and also fix the progression block for those who have already been affected.

In the meantime, those playing through the latest Resident Evil remake will want to be extra vigilant during Chapter 12 and avoid using the knife attack when receiving new items. Maybe just put the controller down during those sequences, just in case!

Hopefully this bug also gets fixed in time for the Resident Evil 4 remake PSVR mode. Failing that, there’s always The Mercenaries, which has recently had its characters and costumes leaked.
