Tetris Effect gets disconnected, as five games leave Game Pass

Five games disappear from Game Pass like completed lines in Tetris (shhh, we know you can’t get five in Tetris).

Those games are Bugsnax (Cloud, Console and PC), Destroy All Humans! (Cloud, Console and PC), Dragon Quest Builders 2 (Cloud, Console and PC), Tetris Effect Connected (Console and PC) and Unsouled (Cloud, Console and PC).

It does feel like we’ve been losing more than we’ve been gaining since January 1st. But we assume the best, as the quality has been so high. Take the arrival of Redfall on May 2nd as a stellar example.

Of the games leaving, there are a couple that we’d recommend picking up in future sales. Tetris Effect Connected is our personal fave, as both the game and its soundtrack have delivered plenty of joy in our house. We handed it a 4.5 out of 5, and gushed that it “looks great, it plays brilliantly, it sounds awesome, and it could well be the best Tetris experience yet, but at the end of the day it’s still Tetris… yet it is still as stupidly addictive as it ever was”

On the less hectic side is Bugsnax. There’s not much like it on the Xbox, which is why we think you should give it a go. Imagine a Pokemon where the animals are variants of food you’d find in your fridge, and rather than chuck Pokeballs, you are manually setting the traps yourself. We handed a reserved 3.5/5 review to it, saying “In the red corner is a sweet, satisfying puzzle game, where figuring out how to catch a given bugsnax is the challenge. But in the blue corner is the physics-based sandbox where you have to actually capture them, and that game can’t find the fun. As they grappled together, we found ourselves occasionally losing attention, scanning our game backlog for a different treat. Perhaps it’s time for a return to Viva Pinata after all.

As we’ve mentioned, May is looking rather generous on Game Pass. On May 2nd is Redfall (Series X, Series S, PC, Cloud). On May 4th is Ravenlok (Console, PC), while on May 11th is the unsung Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 (Console, PC). Out on May 23rd is Amnesia: The Bunker (Console), May 25th is Railway Empire 2 (Console, PC) and finally on May 30th is Farworld Pioneers (Console, PC). We can expect more announcements around the May slate for Game Pass in the near future.
