Protodroid DeLTA, a 3D action platformer, is finally set to launch on May 25 for Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Humble Store. The announcement was made by the game’s publisher Humble Games and developer Adam Kareem, after a delay from its initial release date of April 27. According to the game’s store pages, Protodroid DeLTA is set in a beautiful and hopeful solarpunk world that showcases the potential of AI. The game follows the story of DeLTA, a hyper-advanced android created by Dr. Shelton, a world-renowned roboticist. DeLTA was designed to show the world the promise of what AI can become, but when a gang of Vypers attack Shelton’s lab, DeLTA is forced to use her combat subroutines and weapon systems to defend herself.

After successfully fending off the attackers, Dr. Shelton assigns DeLTA a new mission: to defend the region against the rising Vyper threat, earn the city’s trust and affection, and show the world the true promise of what AI can become. The game boasts a dynamic 3D action platforming system, allowing players to draw upon DeLTA’s extraordinary dexterity and arsenal to navigate challenging stages. Players can jump and shoot in 3D gameplay designed to channel the fast and fluid feel of 2D classics like Mega Man X.

Players can also take on stages in any order, choosing from a variety of distinctive stages, fighting personality-filled bosses on their home turf, and claiming their unique weapons as their own. The game’s vibrant characters add to the game’s charm, with a diverse cast of larger-than-life Vyper Masters, rival roboticists, and fellow Protodroids. Players can enhance DeLTA’s capabilities by searching high and low for upgrades and power-ups, and master new blade techniques by locating their fellow Protodroid AnnDROID in each stage. Protodroid DeLTA seems like an exciting addition to the 3D action platformer genre, with a charming solarpunk world, diverse characters, and engaging gameplay mechanics. Fans of the genre should definitely keep an eye out for its release on May 25.
