The final week of the “Explore the Horizon” series has arrived in Forza Horizon 5 and as we have come to expect by now, there is also a whole laundry list of new Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges to take on in Series 21 – Spring.
Of course, as we are basking in a heatwave currently in the UK, it is actually the Hot season in Mexico, so for once our climates have aligned.
Lets jump straight in and see what is on the menu this week – we’ve got tons of cars and tunes that should help you complete the challenges on offer.
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Like Nothing Else
The subject of this week’s car challenge is yet another truly ridiculous vehicle, the Hummer H1 Alpha from 2006. Suffice it to say that when it came time for Arnold Schwarzenegger to choose a car back in the day, he had one of these!
Although I suspect being all green like he is now, he probably drives a Prius…
Anyway, with a crazy size and massive diesel engine, this thing should at least be fun to drive about in, right?
If you don’t have one in your garage the car will cost a cool 112,000 credits from the Autoshow. Or, if you wish to be thrifty, complete the “Beach Ya to IT” championship to get one for free.
Chapter 1 – HMMWV
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete!
Oh, and HMMWV stands for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Who says the Army can’t come up with cool names?
Chapter 2 – Pink or Camo
Get out the paintbrushes. This step calls for us to cover the acres of bodywork in a nice new paint job.
Chapter 3 – Unstoppable
Now we need to use this car’s offroad ability to smash twelve innocent cactuses. Cacti?
Chapter 4 – Contender
Finally, we need to use our Hummer to complete a Horizon Arcade event. It isn’t suited for Drifting or Speed, I’d say, so maybe a Chaos or Wreckage event will be right up its alley?
And with that, the weekly challenge is complete and we are five points closer to the reward cars of Series 21. You like reward cars, yeah?
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
As Spring has arrived, bringing with the heat, it is time to check out this week’s collection of challenges.
The Trial – Kicking Up Mud
The Trial this week has a theme I like, that of Modern Rally cars, in a B Class 700 flavour.
Now, to me, a Modern Rally car is an Evo, and I will brook no argument! Mine is tuned a tad, and is an Evo VIII MR, and the share code is : 141172186.
Now, as usual, we need to hopefully find some random players from the internet who have not only heard of teamwork, but choose to practise it, and so this is a challenge. Still, fingers crossed, eh? Last week’s players did leave a bit to be desired, and I was within an inch of naming and shaming someone who kept taking out his teammates as he wanted to win…
Should we manage to win two out of three races, a lovely Mini JCW Buggy is our reward.
Eventlab 1 – JJOEY ROCKET presents The Boardwalk Custom Track
Now, this is the same restriction as last week, and the week before, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The same car can do the duty. Off Road capable vehicle, in an A Class 800 range – I went for a Jeep Trailcat, with the share code: 118411445.
The track this time is long, and while it is fairly okay, the big jumps that land you amongst houses or trees, and the small jumps before every corner, kill the flow.
The prize for zooming around? An MB 190E. Germanic
Playground Games – Geo-Crashing
Puns are back, yay?
Anyway, this is the usual invitation to take part in some Playground Games, and while this is usually quite fun, there is no pressure as we will get a prize win or lose. The restriction this week is AWD only, to a maximum of A Class 800, and we are in the perfect vehicle after the Eventlab.
The prize for this? A Dodge Durango
PR Stunt 1 – Danger Zone – Ranas Saltarinas
Step forward the BMW X5M Forza Edition, with share code: 519084427.
Jumping about always needs a car that can cope off road, and this Beemer can do that. For the weekly challenge, we need to clear over 280m, and hitting the ramp at around 130 mph saw me manage to do it.
A Super Wheelspin will be yours if you drive fast enough.
PR Stunt 2 – TrailBlazer – Malpais
Stay in the X5M from above for this event, as it is certainly more than capable off road.
We need to hit the finish line with more than 20 seconds left on the clock, and while the course is pretty short, you’ll want to make sure you have a good line through the gate and to avoid as many of the big jumps as you can, as the landings really slow you down.
Pick your route and remember that rewinding is your friend.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
Seasonal Championship 1 – Beach Ya to It
Oh dear, the pun writer is back off holiday, and putting in for overtime.
We need to use a Super GT car in the S1 Class 900 for this set of races, and so I went with a Ferrari 812 Superfast, and the share code is : 261040765.
For winning outright solo, or best two out of three in a convoy, we can take home a Hummer H1. The same car we need for the weekly car challenge!
Seasonal Championship 2 – Splash Down
This series of races requires an Unlimited Buggy, in the tuning class of B Class 700. Of the choices on offer, I plumped for the The Alumicraft Class 10 Race Car, and the share code is : 401432454.
For winning best two out of three in a convoy, or the whole thing solo, a Land Rover Velar will be yours. Luxurious!
Part 3: Other Challenges
Series 21 – Spring drops in the Photo Challenge, a Treasure Hunt and a Collectibles challenge. And The Eliminator makes another appearance.
Photo Challenge – #Flutterby
This week, the challenge is to take a car, of any flavour, to the northwest of Hotel Mirador Balderrama, and take a wildlife photo near the camera equipment there. If that sounds rather vague, well, it does to me too.
I’ll post my artistic effort below for your admiration/ridicule.
The reward? A new top, a Farid Rueda Bear tank top, no less. Makes it all worthwhile.
Treasure Hunt – H Marks the Spot
This Treasure Hunt seems entirely the same as the previous three weeks, as we have to find all three of the weekly Pathfinder Challenges in the Accolades page. Only then can the treasure be ours.
The three challenges in question are all trails to find, marked at the start by a pair of green balloons and then there are a series of red balloons to follow, until the trail ends at more green balloons. They aren’t tricky to follow, so go nuts.
They start in Atlantes de Tula, Playa Azul West and Bahia de Plano.
The location of the treasure chest is shown below, and it has 250,000 credits inside.
Collectible Challenge – Donkey Gone
We need to drive around to the farmland around Tierra Prospero, and find and smash ten cardboard donkeys. Now, donkeys are usually pretty big, so it shouldn’t be too tricky. Famous last words and all that!
I’ll stick a picture of what we are looking for below.
For completing this challenge, we can get a Farid Rueda Bear Relaxed fit tee. Groovy.
The Eliminator – Battle Royale
The Eliminator – still my nemesis in the game.
For this week’s challenge at least we don’t have to win, we just need to survive into the top 30 of the competitors. Hide in a bush, have a scrap, fight for better cars – whatever you want to do.
For Staying Alive, as the Bee Gees once sang, we will win a Range Rover, which seems nice.
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Supersonic Spiral
We need to blaze the zone at more than 150mph, which qualifies as pretty brisk.
Well, if any car can do it, it’s that old faithful, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, and my share code is: 109282883. Take a long run from the left for the best approach.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Hyper Drive
We need to use a Hypercar for this championship, in the S2 998 Class. And what could be Hyper-er than that same Koenigsegg? Same car makes things straightforward.
Winning all the races, or two out of three in a convoy, will get us a new emote, Jump on it. I’m not even going to ask…
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Crateres Secos
I reached for the BMW X5M FE, with the share code : 519084427. Needing to maintain a speed of 74 mph while being offroad, it was the perfect tool. The corners in the middle are pretty brutal, so take it easy in this section.
A Super Wheelspin is the prize.
Seasonal Championship – Chomping at the Grit
We need a Rally Monster vehicle for this set of races, in an S1 Class 900. Nothing else will do apart from the Hoonigan RS 1800 Escort, and the share code for mine is : 264985022.
This is my favourite car at the moment in the whole game, it is blindingly fast and a real hoot to drive.
For winning out, we can take away a new horn, a Reaper Cackle. Can’t wait.
With Series 21 concluding, new monthly rewards are up for grabs. For a mere 80 points, you can take home a Wuling Sunshine and for 160 points you can have an Audi RS7 2021. You should have both those in your garage if you’ve been following our guides.
The monthly Rivals challenges are also still live – whack in some clean laps around Ek’Balam and the other using a Cupra Tavascan Concept car. Make sure you take these in at some point during Series 21 – unless you did them last week, or the week before?
Grab enough points and Spring will also see you gifted with the Hummer Ev Truck for 20 points and the mighty Morris Traveller for 40 points.
And that’s your lot for this week and our little guide to the best cars and tunes of Forza Horizon 5’s Series 21 Spring, and Series 21 as a whole.
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
As always, the comments section is below. We’d love to know if these cars and tunes have helped you out.
