Diminutive but super powerful. That’s the best way to describe the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger. And frankly, that’s exactly what we are after from a desktop charger.

Power delivery is something that has become ever more prominent in this modern life we lead. From Xbox controllers to mobile phones, to MacBooks, earbuds and gaming headsets, pretty much everything we utilise in life requires some kind of power. And it seems that UGREEN has got a handle on that. Previously having given the option to go portable with the UGREEN 145W 25000mAh Power Bank, what’s the best way of powering your devices if you’re staying indoors?

Well, the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger is one option. And it’s one that we’ve been using on the daily for the last few weeks. It’s not once let us down either.

Small but powerful – the UGREEN 200W Charger

The UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger is a small desktop device that is capable of giving out all the juice you will ever need. It does so with some super clever tech built in too. All you need to do is plug it into a wall socket, and from there its gets on with providing all the power you need for a range of devices.

We’ve mostly been here connecting up headsets, Xbox controllers, phones and our MacBook Pro, at various points of the day. Sometimes we’ve found the need to charge multiple devices simultaneously too – and the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger is an utter beast when it comes to multi-device focus.

Weighing in at 529 grams (although frankly, as something that stays in place for the majority of its time, that is neither here nor there) and running at some 10cm in width and length and 3cm in height, this is a small little unit. But it’s capable of covering all the bases, with four separate USB-C ports accompanied by a couple of USB-A offerings.

It’s in these in which you can grab some 200W of power at any one time. That power output is split pretty nicely between ports too, with a couple of the USB-C options maxing out at 100W, the other two dropping down to 65W apiece. As you may expect to hear, the USB-A (really, it’s time for this to die a proper death now but we understand legacy products), covers a mere 10W max output.

We’ve mostly found charge through the USB-C ports that deliver 100W with ease. We’ve made the most of the USB-C double ended cable that is included with the charger too. And whilst we haven’t sat there timing charge of devices, UGREEN promise that a 16in MacBook Pro can be fully juiced up in just an hour and a half – we would happily hold them to that without issue. We’ve certainly found it chucking plenty of power into our Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller and many of its alternatives in pretty short time.

Power delivery seems near-instant too, and plugging in, removing and replacing cables is a cinch. Obviously USB-C is our preferred method, but grabbing any old cable and knowing that, within minutes, power levels will be shifting nicely has meant that the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger has been our go-to charging solution for pretty much everything.

How many ports do you need?

With four tiny rubber feet ensuring that this sits happily on a desk without issue, and a great UGREEN design gathering cues from their other products, there’s certainly not much to complain about with the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger. In fact, aside from the weight, we’re not sure that there’s anything we’d change about this one.

There’s more though. For us it’s been the instant charge that the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger has delivered that has been our main priority, but internal tech means that this won’t ever let your device overheat from charging either. The OTP system built-in takes a temperature reading every half a second, ensuring enhanced safety. And UGREEN are keen to point out the carbon neutrality of their product too – the manufacturing of the GaN chip comes with a CO2 footprint that is some ten times smaller than other silicon solutions. Not that you’ll know too much about what goes on as this one works its magic though.

All you need from a charging unit is the knowledge that as you plug, it plays, charging your devices to the very best of its capabilities. And the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger does that with ease. It may not be the lightest charger on the market, but it’s one that is packed full of features and power delivery options. Simply put, if you need something to deliver some proper juice, quickly, you’ll not go wrong with the UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger.

Huge thanks go out to UGREEN for providing us with their UGREEN Nexode 200W Charger for review. You can grab one for yourself from the likes of Amazon. You’re looking at a rough £150 asking price.
