You may recall that, back in October of last year, Nintendo had announced that online play and other functionalities for 3DS and Wii U software would be coming to an end in April of 2024. It is now 2024, so it was only a matter of time before Nintendo decided to elaborate more about the matter.

Sure enough, Nintendo has done so as of tonight. The company has announced that the closure of online play and services will end for 3DS and Wii U software on April 8th. Nintendo also confirmed that, starting on March 11th, you will no longer be able to merge your unused Nintendo eShop balance to your Nintendo Account’s wallet for use on the Nintendo Switch.
