Developer Type Moon Studio BB and publisher Bandai Namco have teamed up for Fate/EXTRA Record, a remake of Fate/EXTRA that will be coming to Switch, PlayStation, and PC in 2025.

As part of FGO Fest 2024, Type Moon has provided a trailer and release window for Fate/EXTRA Record, which was initially announced in 2020. Unlike Fate/Stay Night Remastered and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia Remastered, it is a full remake. And through the original game did recieve an English release back on the PSP, this remake may set up a future release of a remaster/remake of Fate/EXTRA CCC- its companion story that did not get an English release.

A turn-based RPG with a Rock-Paper-Scissors style of combat, Fate/EXTRA told the story of Hakuno Kishinami as they uncovered the truth behind the Moon Holy Grail War alongside Saber, the heroic spirit known as Nero Claudius. It stood out at the time for its departure from Fate’s main location of Fuyuki City to a virtual world, for letting players choose between a Male and Female avatar character, and for introducing several new heroic spirits that have since become well-known and beloved in the Type Moon fanbase- such as Nero herself and Tamamo-No-Mae. Tsukihime fans were also treated with the inclusion of its main heroine, Arcueid Brunestud, into the story.

Exactly what will change or be added in this remake is unclear as of the moment, but readers can view its most recent trailer below to get a sneak peek at what’s to come.
