Black Myth: Wukong was a surprise hit when it launched last month. Amid all the controversy, Game Science’s action game is the best selling game for the month of August on the PS Store.

Black Myth: Wukong is August’s best selling game on PS Store around the world

In a post by PlayStation Blog Japan, August’s best selling games for both Japan and US/Canada PS Stores were unveiled. Black Myth: Wukong was the talk of the town last month, so it’s no surprise that the Journey to the West adaptation would top both charts. Besides the number one spot, both lists are fairly different in terms of ranking. There is some overlap, but overall, both lists are different.

Here are the top 10 best selling games for the US/Canada PS Store:

  1. Black Myth: Wukong
  2. EA Sports Madden NFL 25
  3. EA Sports College Football 25
  4. Grand Theft Auto V
  5. Star Wars Outlaws
  6. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
  7. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  8. Baldur’s Gate 3
  9. Hogwarts Legacy
  10. WWE 2k24

EA Sports College Football 25 continues to be a solid return for the long dormant franchise still within the top five best selling games on the US/Canada PS Store. Grand Theft Auto V remains in the top five as well over 10 years after release. Similarly, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is still a hit nine years after release.

Japan’s PS Store best selling games for August are vastly different. Only three games are the same as US/Canada’s top selling games. Here is the top 10 best selling games for Japan’s PS Store:

  1. Black Myth: Goku
  2. Gundam Breaker 4
  3. Visions of Mana
  4. Exit 8
  5. Hogwarts Legacy
  6. Vampire Survivors
  7. Core Keeper
  8. Monster Hunter Rise
  9. Star Wars Outlaws
  10. Street Fighter 6

It is no surprise Black Myth: Wukong tops PS Store’s August sales charts. Game Science hit several sales milestones post launch, with more than 18 million copies sold as of last week, with no sign of slowing down.
