Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was so successful that a sequel is currently in the works, 5 years after the original game released on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. The sequel has been in development for a few years now, with the team largely unchanged from the team that worked on the first game. However, there is going to be one exception.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night’s director and lead developer for the DS Castlevania games, Shutaro Ida, has announced on social media that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Because of this, he will be stepping back from development of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night 2. You can see his social media post about the matter down below.
