A beloved PS1 Star Wars game is making its return to PS5 and PS4 after 25 years. Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles originally released in 2000 for Dreamcast and PlayStation, followed by a Game Boy Advance launch. Aspyr Media is reviving the classic with new features for modern consoles.

Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles release date confirmed for PS5, PS4

Jedi Power Battles will release on January 23, 2025. It’s unclear if Sony will add the game to PS Plus Premium‘s classic catalog, but did announce on the PS Blog that pre-orders start today.

As for what’s new, there will be a Lightsaber Toggle feature that allows players to change saber colors. The original game’s secret characters and levels will also be unlocked from the beginning. The upcoming Jedi Power Battles will introduce 13 new playable characters that’ll be unlocked from the start. Characters include Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Ishi Tib, and Weequay. More characters will be announced in due course.

Last but not least, expect gameplay improvements as well as character model and environment enhancements. Jedi Power Battles also brings classic couch co-op and classic cheats and unlockables to the PS5 and PS4.

“We’ve brought this classic back out of our deep love for Star Wars, and we hope you find joy in every lightsaber swing and every battle won,” Aspyr wrote.
