Konami revealed a new video bringing together a trio of Metal Gear Solid stars. Voice actors David Hayter, Jodi Benson, and Lori Alan discuss their work on the 2004 classic, as well as the upcoming remake Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This includes their experience with recording new lines for the highly anticipated game.

In the recent Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series video, Hayter says that the “lion’s share” of the dialogue from Metal Gear Solid Delta is from the original game. However, he then asked both Benson, and Alan a question that revealed new lines were recorded. Subsequently, footage of Benson performing in the studio was shown.

“It was a blast,” says Alan about returning as Boss. “It was so easy because they’ve been marinating in their love affairs, their fights, their relationships, so it takes no time to literally drop into those . . . characters, those relationships.”

“And twenty years have passed, you know, so then you have legacy, you have history with these characters that you get to just dive back into them, but layer on top of it,” continues Benson. “But again, the story is there.”

The video also formally revealed Benson as the voice of Eva. In the original games, the voice of the Naked Snake’s companion was credited as Suzetta Minet. Benson discussed her career up to that point was primarily in children’s animations, which led to the name change. The actual name came from her childhood dog named Suzette Monet. So, after some slight changes, they came up with Suzetta Minet.

However, this didn’t stump everyone. She shares a story how fans would mention her Metal Gear Solid role to her during meet and greets.

“But then seven years ago, at various conventions where we meet and greet with wonderful fans, somebody slipped one of these wonderful games to my table,” explains Benson. “And I said, ‘Why are you bringing me that?’ And he says, ‘Because you’re in it.’ And I said, ‘Do you know? Do you know my deep, dark secret?’”

This seems to confirm which role Hayter was in a booth for in early October. This may have been some of the finishing touches the producers has for Metal Gear Solid Delta. Even with Konami allegedly closing in on the finish line, a release date has yet to be revealed.
