The latest Sonic Wings / Aero Fighters game, teased earlier this year, recently shared some details and its release date for Nintendo Switch.

Officially titled Sonic Wings Reunion, the shoot em’ up will launch in Japan on May 29, 2025 and will be the first game in the series in 26 years.

Sonic Wings Reunion will have 7 language options for text, including English, and will be getting a physical release plus a limited edition.

Success Corporation will be developing and publishing the game, with series composer Sōshi Hosoi returning and having been the one to pitch the concept for the project in the first place.

Readers can view an overview and the reveal video below:

In the year 20XX, cities around the world come under attack. “Fata Morgana,” a mysterious organization wielding super weapons and the unknown technology to control the world’s military arsenal, has returned. “Project Blue,” an international secret rescue team of knights that soar the skies, rises to stand against this threat to the world. What awaits them in their fight against these formidable foes…?

Choose from eight popular characters from the series, including Mao Mao and Hien, as you aim to clear eight stages set in real-life cities. The game allows you to select your difficulty at the start and also includes local two-player cooperative play.
