Japan: Mother 2 30th anniversary merch revealed

Believe it or not, this year marked the 30th anniversary of Earthbound, which was released on the SNES with the name Mother 2 in Japan back in 1994. There hasn’t been a new game in the series in a long time, but that doesn’t mean that Nintendo and Hobonichi is going to be ignoring the game’s anniversary. In fact, there’s something planned that may interest you.

You see, it has been announced that Earthbound 30th anniversary merchandise is on the way. In Japan, Lawson and various other stores will be featuring Earthbound merchandise. Starting November 30th, Lawson stores in particular will be running an Ichiban Kuji lottery where you can win prizes that are related to Earthbound. Checking in a Lawson store with a GPS between November 25th and 29th will also net you a a limited edition wallpaper with Mr Saturn.
