Koei Tecmo, publisher of the Dynasty Warriors and Atelier games, is looking to make some changes in how it operates.

The scoop comes from a shareholder briefing document that was translated by Automaton:

The company plans to take its employee count from 2,500 to 5,000 so that it can better meet its goals.

That being to shift away from mobile gaming due to their belief that “significant growth is unlikely to be seen” in that market, noting that the mobile scene had reached its apex.

And to instead prioritize AAA games moving forward, as the company “expects the console and PC game market to grow,” an argument based on the sizable playerbases amassed by Stellar Blade and Black Myth: Wukong.

Koei Temo has also established a new in-house game studio and made improvements to its proprietary Katana Engine- both of which will be used to their fullest potential to help the company adapt to the market and keep up a steady production of quality titles.
