How to get into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 open beta
Along with the reveal that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date will be October 28 for PS5 and PS4, the blog post shares some important details on the upcoming open beta.
Players will be able to get into the early access part of this testing phase by pre-ordering any of the various versions of the game. This includes the digital or physical versions of the Cross-Gen Bundle ($69.99 MSRP), as well as the premium Vault Edition ($99.99 MSRP) that comes with the Season One Battle Pass, the Ghost Legacy Pack that includes over 20 items, and more.
You can pre-order Modern Warfare 2 on the PlayStation Store or through the Franchise Store in various Call of Duty games like Warzone, Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, or Modern Warfare. Pre-ordering the game through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Battle.net will automatically register you for the open beta without requiring you to input a code anywhere. Otherwise, if you pre-order the game from, say, a participating retailer, you’ll be given a 13-character code that can be redeemed on the Call of Duty website.
The specific dates for when the open beta will appear on PlayStation consoles before other platforms and when you can start pre-loading the beta will be announced at a later date. According to a note at the bottom of the PlayStation blog post, the open beta will last at least two days, and an online multiplayer subscription may be required.
