Guerrilla Games has said that unlike a lot of modern role-playing games, Horizon Forbidden West will have a single ending but it’ll be “very strong and impactful.” Narrative director Benjamin McCaw told Italian website Everyeye (translated by Wccftech) that during the course of the game, there will be moments where players have to make “very strong” moral choices but all the paths lead to the same end.
Horizon Forbidden West story is set six months after the original
Six months on from the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, the red plague has started spreading across the world. Senior writer Annie Kitain said that this is the “first indication of the critical failure of the terraforming operation.” The story also touches upon severe climate change, ecology, and environment, which are “symbolized by the ferocious storms.”
“In any case, Aloy begins studying the plague right away, and her clues point her to the West,” Kitain continued. “The beginning of the game will explain exactly why.” McCaw added that some of the story’s nuances may change depending on how players have interacted with and treated certain non-playable characters but it won’t have a significant impact on how the story progresses.
Horizon Forbidden West features a talented cast
In case you missed it, Guerrilla Games recently released a brief video introducing Horizon Forbidden West‘s star-studded cast to players. The game features Ashly Burch as Aloy, Lance Reddick as Sylens, John MacMillan as Aloy’s friend Varl, John Hopkins as Oseram warrior Erend, Noshir Dalal as Tenakth warrior Kotallo, and Carrie-Anne Moss as the mysterious Tilda. Without further ado, watch the video below.
Horizon Forbidden West will release on February 18th for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
In other news, an analyst has predicted that PS5 will outsell Xbox Series X/2 two-to-one in 2022, and Overwatch 2‘s development troubles have been blamed on Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
