A new report, partially corroborated by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, claims that Assassin’s Creed Rift is officially titled Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and is scheduled to release in Spring 2023. You’ll be forgiven for being confused between all the Assassin’s Creed reports making rounds so here’s a bit of a refresher: Rift is the smaller, single-player game featuring Valhalla’s Basim that Ubisoft has yet to announce. Infinity, which is supposed to be an evolving live-service game, has already been confirmed by the developer and will release at a later date.
Assassin’s Creed Rift / Mirage will reportedly coming with AC 1 remake
According to YouTuber j0nathan, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will return to basics and won’t feature a leveling system like the newer games. Think of the older AC titles and that’s where Mirage seeks inspiration from. As previously reported, the game will take place in Baghdad, Iraq. According to j0nathan, it’ll be set between the years 870 and 860, during the time of anarchy in Samarra (another city in Iraq).
Apparently, Basim will be a young thief at the time until he becomes an assassin. He will use a string dagger to take out his targets, and will have both Eagle Vision and a “drone bird” at his disposal. The YouTuber claims that Ubisoft is planning to include an Assassin’s Creed 1 remake with Mirage’s Season Pass, which will also include DLC set in Constantinople.
According to Schreier, who vetted the report, some parts of the leak (like its name and release window are true) but other parts aren’t. We’ll find out what’s what on September 10th at Ubisoft Forward.
A person familiar tells me parts of this new Assassin’s Creed leak are true (such as the name and the other stuff Bloomberg has already reported: spring 23, Baghdad, back to AC basics) and other parts are not (“multiple cities to explore”) https://t.co/qmM6UZtKnG
