Prime Matter has revealed the long-awaited System Shock Remake has been indefinitely delayed on PS5 and PS4 consoles and will no longer be released by the end of March. While the game has been given a new release date for May on PC, console versions have not received an update.

Why has System Shock Remake been delayed again?

The publisher has explained they were hoping to bring the game to PC and consoles by the end of the month but “that turned out to be just beyond our reach.” The result is that the game will now be released on PC on May 30. However, the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One versions of System Shock Remake have been delayed indefinitely and will be released “in due course.” More details on these versions will be released at a later date.

This isn’t the first time the game has been delayed, although players will be hoping it is the last. System Shock was originally revealed in 2015 as a franchise reboot and a successful Kickstarter managed to raise the funds necessary for development. The initial release window was in 2017, but then the game changed engines and the release window was pushed back. Development was halted in 2018 before being rebooted and a new release window of 2020 was given. This turned into 2021, then 2022, and finally March 2023. I guess a few more months is unlikely to make much more difference.
