Gaming giant Tencent has announced Light of Motiram for PC, which has been accused of being a “rip off” of Sony’s exclusive Horizon series by Guerrilla Games. We’re not talking about a slight resemblance, either; Light of Motiram looks incredibly similar to Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.

Light of Motiram and Horizon controversy compared to Palworld

Light of Motiram, a trailer for which you can see below, is developed by Tencent subsidiary Polaris Quest. It’s billed as a “mechanimal-ruled open world” game. Players will fight to survive in a world “overrun by colossal machines” following the collapse of civilization.

The minute Light of Motiram was unveiled, players likened it to the Palworld/Pokemon situation. Palworld, which heavily borrows from Pokemon, has found itself mired in legal controversy as Nintendo has sued its developer Pocketpair for infringement of patent rights.

A number of players have opined that Sony should take Tencent to task considering how blatantly it copies the Horizon series. Others say that would be an overreach.

A number of websites have reached out to both Sony and Tencent, neither of which have responded.

We’ll update our readers if either party comments on the situation. In the meantime, share your thought with us in the comments section below.
