Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is not in the works at Ubisoft, according to a recent report. This is despite The Division 2 for PS4, which released in 2019, having a fairly good Metascore of 82 and the publisher stating in May 2020 that The Division 2 had sold over 10 million units.

The Division 3 is not in prior report of Ubisoft releases this year

While a sequel to The Division 2 is not in development, according to anonymous sources who are “close to the company” speaking with Insider Gaming, the next major update for the game is still scheduled. However, this update is “currently behind” because of game-breaking bugs. Specifically, Ubisoft stated in an official tweet on February 9 that there was “an error that brought down the build generation system” for the game that will require the system to be rebuilt.

This means that fans of The Division series will likely need to stick with The Division 2 for at least the next three years, given the long development cycle for AAA games these days. The game is currently in Season 10, called Price of Power, which comes with Legendary difficulty for several strongholds and a new endgame mode called Countdown.

This report falls in line with another one in January that said Ubisoft is still planning to release five or more PS5 games by March 2024. Those include Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, xDefiant, and Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland. The Division 3 was not mentioned in this short list then, leading to speculation that it was missing or could have been pushed to a later date, but it looks like the game isn’t even in development.
