With the game set to launch at the end of this week, Naughty Dog has started to be much more generous with The Last of Us Part 1 gameplay that it is showcasing. Today’s clip weighs in at seven minutes and features Joel and Ellie teaming up with Bill as they make their way through a school campus. Naturally, things don’t go to plan.

The Last of Us Part 1 Gameplay at 4K 60 FPS

The Bill’s Town chapter of The Last of Us Part 1 sees Joel and Ellie hunting for a battery to power a car provided by Joel’s friend, Bill. Initially a stealth mission, things can easily get out of hand with the sheer number of infected in the area.

As predicted, the player demoing the game in the clip starts off slow, taking enemies out one at a time with a shiv. However, they are soon spotted and must resort to shooting infected with the limited amount of ammo that they have stashed away.

The player is making use of a limited HUD for added immersion. In normal play, button prompts and UI elements are present to provide vital information.

It’s also worth noting that the game is running at 4K 60 FPS, offering both crisp visuals and a high frame rate. The PS5’s power is on display here, pushing out overhauled visuals at a resolution and frame rate that the previous gen simply had no hope of handling.

The Last of Us Part 1 is set to release exclusively for PS5 on September 2. It is also in development for PC.

In other PlayStation news, Assassin’s Creed Rift is reportedly going to be called “Mirage” and release during spring 2023. Naughty Dog has explained why The Last of Us Part 1 is a Remake, not a Remaster. The next Mafia game is a few years away, says Hangar 13.
