It is no secret Ubisoft has been in rough shape as of late. The recent decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a harbinger of that, as creatives and executives at the developer rethink how it releases its games. Now, it seems the company wants to double down on its most popular franchise, with alleged plans to release a new Assassin’s Creed every six months for the foreseeable future.

There will reportedly be a new Assassin’s Creed game every six months for the next decade

According to Ubisoft insider Tom Henderson on the Xbox Two + One podcast, Ubisoft has a “strong” lineup of releases across its various series. This includes a new Ghost Recon game, Far Cry 7, the recently confirmed Rayman game, and a Far Cry extraction shooter. Also included is a slew of Assassin’s Creed games including the already revealed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Hexe, and Invictus. He also believes this is the beginning of a plan to release an entry every six months for the next ten years.

“They’ve got Assassin’s Creed Shadows, they’ve also got Assassin’s Creed Invictus next year, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake, and they plan to do a new Assassin’s Creed every six months or so for the next ten years, I believe,” says Henderson.

Like all rumors, its possible that these claims are not the case. However, Henderson does have a pretty solid track record, so it is pretty likely this could be a plan the company has discussed. We’ll just have to see next year if the biannual release plan begins. If Ubisoft goes forward with this strategy, that means 20 games from the popular franchise will release within the next decade.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally supposed to launch on November 15, 2024. However, due to lessons learned from Star Wars Outlaws problematic launch, Ubisoft delayed the game to February 14, 2025.
