Apogee Entertainment, New Blood Interactive, and Nightdive Studios have announced a delay for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of “Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition.” Originally scheduled for release on July 31, the new release date for these consoles has not been disclosed, while the PC version remains unaffected and will still launch via Steam and GOG on the planned date. New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry attributed the delay to “some [certification] issues (silly stuff) on consoles.” Although disappointing for console players eager to experience the classic shooter, the developers are undoubtedly working to resolve the certification concerns to deliver a polished and enjoyable gaming experience.

For those unfamiliar with the game, “Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition” is a thrilling homage to the golden age of shooters, combining simplicity with high-octane action. The remastered version, powered by Nightdive’s KEX Engine, boasts 4K visuals, increased field-of-vision, and a blistering 60 frames-per-second, allowing players to dive into explosive gameplay and face the dangers of a mysterious island filled with cultists. The Ludicrous Edition offers a host of exciting features, including multiplayer support, achievements, and an enchanted baseball bat. Players can gear up with the H.U.N.T. team, a five-person task force, and experience both the classic campaign and restored cut content. Moreover, a brand-new original story episode set in the Rise of the Triad universe will be available for players to embark on a fresh adventure.
