Another week down in the inexorable march towards 2021’s holiday season, and it’s been a busy one Nintendo-wise. The platform holder released its quarterly financial results — profits are down but on track, with industry-wide production issues being a particular thorn in Nintendo’s side at present — and the release dates of its upcoming slate of games was reconfirmed. The Animal Crossing 2.0 update dropped a day earlier than expected and has been keeping islanders busier than they have been in ages. Gotta love Brewster!
Now, though, it’s time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

Like a lot of Switch owners I’ll be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons version 2.0, and I’ll also be getting stuck into the impossibly cute Happy Home Paradise DLC for review. I’ve only done the opening part but it made me a smile a lot. I also have a weird urge to finally start a second playthrough of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Elsewhere I’ll be unwinding with Forza Horizon 5, which is the only driving franchise that gets its hooks into me – alongside Mario Kart, obviously.

What am I playing this weekend? Well, judging from the notifications that pop up every couple of minutes on my Switch, I think we’re all playing the same thing: Puyo Puyo Tetris.
I’m kidding. I’m playing the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise downloadable content, or the ACNHHHPDLC for short.

Hey folks! I’m still not quite ready to close the door on Halloween just yet, so I’ll be getting stuck into a bit of gothic horror with Castlevania Advance Collection. I’m also working through New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe after a long hiatus; not the best game in the series by any means, but I love its breezy, easy-going nature.
Over on the Series X, I wish I could say I’m playing Forza Horizon 5, but I’m waiting for its release on GamePass on Tuesday. Instead I’ll be brushing up on some Halo multiplayer with that fabulous new ‘Macworld’ Orion armour. Have a good one, all!

“Spookvember” is here, ready to slaughter our wallets. We don’t really have a proper Halloween tradition in my country but in said holiday spirit this weekend I’ve got a double dose of zombie whacking lined up on the Switch: Dying Light and World War Z should ensure my neighbours won’t go long before rumbling explosions from my audio setup vibrate their living rooms (fret not, they are complete jerks). Tunche is also a grind-friendly delight and at long last my physical edition of Star Renegades arrived, quite looking forward to that one.
Game of the Week is Inazuma Eleven Strikers on the Wii. I’ve pretty much given up hope of having the ultimate version of this on Switch, which is a real shame. Prove me wrong, Level-5: Inazuma Eleven Ares is still real… right?

Cards on the table — there’s often a great disparity between my gaming plans (as documented here on a near-weekly basis) and the reality of my weekend.
This week I plan to get back into Animal Crossing and the DLC, and investigate the Age of Calamity DLC, and play some more Ocarina and Star Fox 64 with my gorgeous new NSO N64 controller, and continue my journey through Metroid Dread, and start playing Alien: Isolation, which has been in my backlog for ages.
The reality? I’ll probably grab 20 minutes with Tetris Effect just before midnight. 20 glorious minutes.
Have a great one, everyone!
