The best Xbox Game Pass additions ever?

The holidays may be over and the last of the New Year’s drinks have been finished, but in the world of Xbox, the gifts just never stop. Today comes the reveal of the first batch of new Game Pass games for 2024, across Xbox and PC, including some seriously big hitters – of which some are now available to download. Is this the best Game Pass month ever?

As Xbox Game Pass subscribers, we’re well used to the start of the month being the time when new games get announced. That’s the case for the start of January. As the big dogs at Xbox HQ reveal the first new batch of Game Pass additions for 2024.

It looks like January 2024 is going to be a good month too, with no less than 8 new games set to join the Game Pass service over the coming weeks. Those will then be complemented by even more in the latter half of the month.

So, what’s coming to Game Pass in January 2024?

If you’re looking for a new game or two, Game Pass is your best bet. It’s there in which we now find access to a freely downloadable copy of Close to the Sun, as that hits Game Pass on Xbox, Cloud and PC.

A game that first released back in 2019, Close to the Sun will whisk you off to a wonderful location. All before playing out with a mix of science, horror and mystery. It’s from the Wired Productions and Storm in a Teacup teams, usually priced at £20.99.

If you want to know more about the game, we urge you to give our review of Close to the Sun a read. We concluded it with “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Close to the Sun on Xbox, and the entire experience delivers just about the right amount of gameplay for the price tag, even though it may well leave you wishing to spend more time in this wonderful location.

You can grab a download of Close to the Sun via the Xbox Store. It’s now free through Game Pass.

More to come

But there’s more to come to Game Pass too. January 4th sees Hell Let Loose arrive in town, whilst January 9th welcomes in a couple of big hitters. You’ll be found playing both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Figment

Following that are Super Mega Baseball 4 and We Happy Few (both Jan 11th). With Resident Evil 2 and Those Who Remain stopping by on January 16th. Like we say, BIG names.

Leaving Game Pass

Of course, with new arrivals means some games must leave the subscription service. January 5th signals the end of Grand Theft Auto V on PC and console (readying for GTA VI?). And then mid-month movers come in the form of Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable. Expect to see those shifting out on January 15th.

Today though is all about the arrival of Close to the Sun on Game Pass. Will you be playing? The comments are below.
