Will escape rooms still exist in 2088? Or will we all just join one virtually using self-perpetuating VR headsets considering we’ve been dead for the past 20 years? I digress, but there is a new escape room that is at least set in 2088 on consoles today. Can you Escape 2088, out on Xbox today?

Escape 2088 is an old-school point-and-click game set in a far more modern environment, an escape room. This cyberpunk-themed escape room will require you to think logically, explore your surroundings and more under the constant pressure of beating the clock.

As with any good escape room there will be multiple elements. Collect useful items and store them in your inventory, follow the narrative for crucial clues and search in every drawer and under every surface for objects. And if all else fails, have a look online for a walkthrough; Escape 2088 has been out on other platforms for a few years now, there will be a guide online somewhere. You didn’t get that last piece of advice from me though if anyone asks.

Escape rooms are all the rage now on highstreets and more, so naturally we are seeing them pop up on the Xbox Store too. Has Escape 2088 got what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Escape Academy, NEScape! and Neverout? Our review will have all the answers soon.

Escape 2088 is on the Xbox Store now priced at £2.49. For that price, you don’t really need much more of an excuse to give it a go. Let us know in the comments if you will be picking this up.
