farming simulator 22 launch

Many may see it as a pretty niche genre, but we’ve fast become aware that farming games are capable of harnessing a huge audience. And it seems that with Farming Simulator 22 the team at GIANTS Software have hit the mark more than ever before.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised for those next-gen consoles), PS5, PS4, Google Stadia and PC, Farming Simulator is the latest in the ever-increasingly long line of titles that have built out the franchise, following on neatly from the likes of Farming Simulator 15, Farming Simulator 17 and Farming Simulator 19 to provide players with the most extensive agricultural simulator yet.

As you would expect to hear, Farming Simulator 22 comes with a host of new ideas and features, all whilst taking what players loved about the previously and ensuring they are nicely updated. This time around Farming Simulator plays on the production chains that are at the heart of the agricultural empires, right up to crossplay multiplayer and a narrative that focuses on the emotional story of a new farmer.

There are obviously a whole ton of farming machines at hand in Farming Simulator 22, with more than 400 vehicles coming in from the likes of CLAAS, John Deere, New Holland and more. These will let you get on with all your farming needs too, as you tend to crops like grapes, olives and sorghum, as well as spending time looking after all the animals you could want – cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, horses and even bees are included.

Farming Simulator 22 plays out across three distinct maps, with these fully inspired by real-world affairs of southern France, the US-Midwest and the beauty of European Alpine areas.  There is full support for mods across console and PC too. Basically put, if farming is your bag, you’re going to be in your elements with Farming Simulator 22.

Christian Ammann, CEO of GIANTS Software, proudly comments: “It’s an amazing accomplishment that marks a striking milestone on multiple layers of the company’s history: Farming Simulator 22 is our first and globally self-published title, it’s the most extensive entry of the series to date, and it’s the result of our huge ambitions that will nourish our plans to realize even more potential in the future. It’s not just a milestone, it’s a stepping stone, as well.”

So how do you get involved? Well, Farming Simulator 22 is present on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for £41.74 whilst a version which includes the base game and the Year 1 Season Pass will set you back £73.49. That Season Pass is available for £33.49 individually too.

Further to that though are a couple of additional DLC pieces too. These come in the form of the Mack Trucks Black Anthem, the Fendt 900 Vario Black Beauty and the Zetor 25 K for £0.79 each. Expect to find everything on PS4, PS5, PC and Stadia too.

We’re currently working on a full review of Farming Simulator 22 on Xbox Series X|S and will be sure to provide our thoughts as soon as we can. In the meantime, if you’re wanting to know more about the game, you’d do well to listen in on our exclusive interview with one of the main brains behind Farming Simulator 22 – that interview is fully integrated into our latest podcast
