Well, in the blink of an eye, Winter has arrived in Forza Horizon 5 and now there is a whole new list of Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges to go at in Series 21. Of course, this being Mexico, winter is actually the dry season, so at least we won’t need our brollies.

With the usual mix of things to do, from racing to the weekly challenges, I’m here once again like a gruff northern Santa to dispense tips and tunes for all the week’s events. And if my beard keeps getting greyer, I won’t even need a costume.

Lets jump straight in and see what is on the menu this week – we’ve got tons of cars and tunes that should help you complete the challenges on offer.

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Designed for Driving

The subject of this week’s car challenge is another truly ridiculous vehicle, the BMW X5M from 2011.

One of these things is among my favourite cars in the game, in Forza Edition shape, as it is my go to S2 class car for off road challenges.

Still, we need the regular one this week, and the car will cost a cool 100,000 credits from the Autoshow if you don’t already own one.

Chapter 1 – Boss Every Road

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete!

Chapter 2 – Tuned to Perfection

Now we need to get the spanners out, as we need to tune our car up to S1 Class and win a street race. Facing the same problem as last week, I can’t give you a share code until this time next week, so do a search for my gamertag, Red620Ti, and hopefully it will show up.

Once tuned, pick your favourite street race and go out there and win. Don’t forget you can lower the driverbot difficulty if you are struggling.

Chapter 3 – In the Zone

As you might expect with that title, now we need to hit the speed zones and rack up three stars. Luckily, not all at once! Pick your best speed zone and go crazy.

Chapter 4 – Skipping Speed

Now we need to earn a Kangaroo skill in the big Beemer. This is defined as three air skills in quick succession, so go and find a bumpy bit of terrain and start jumping about. Simples!

And with that, the weekly challenge is complete and we are five points closer to the reward cars of Series 21. You like reward cars, yeah?

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

As Winter has come, it is time to check out this week’s collection of challenges.

The Trial – Bucking Broncos

The Trial this week promises to be an interesting one, as the car restriction is A Class 800 Super Saloons. From the list of cars available, it had to be a BMW, and I went with an M5 from 2009, share code : 485527590.

Now, as usual, we need to hopefully find some random players from the internet who have not only heard of teamwork, but choose to practise it, and so this is a challenge. Still, fingers crossed, eh?

Although I have to say, last week’s players were models of virtue, so hopefully lightning can strike twice.

Should we manage to win two out of three races, a lovely #2069 Bronco R is our reward.

Eventlab 1 – DMFDXGAMER presents How the West was Raced

Now, this is the same restriction as last week, and the same car can do the duty. Off Road capable vehicle, in an A Class 800 range – I went for a Jeep Trailcat, with the share code: 118411445.

As for the track this week, and the creator does seem to be overly fond of a width restriction, but it isn’t too bad. 2.5/5, must try harder.

The prize for zooming around? A Plymouth Cuda

Horizon Tour

This week we are invited to complete a Horizon Tour Event.

As I’m sure you know by now, these are a series of three races, divided up by two point to point races across country. No point in recommending a tune for this, as it could be any class, but just go out and drive.

The prize for this? Three measly points towards the weekly prizes.

PR Stunt 1 – Speed Zone – El Gancho

Step forward the BMW X5M Forza Edition, with share code: 519084427.

As this is a speed zone, we need to average a speed of 82 mph through the zone, and with the surface being dirt and twisty, it isn’t as easy as it seems. Cut the bends as much as you dare to help out.

A Super Wheelspin will be yours if you drive fast enough.

PR Stunt 2 – TrailBlazer – Festival Descent

Stay in the X5M from above for this event, as it is certainly more than capable off road.

We need to hit the finish line with more than 28 seconds left on the clock, and while the course isn’t massively long, there certainly seem to be a lot of trees in the way.

Pick your route and remember that rewinding is your friend.

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

Seasonal Championship 1 – Tropic like it’s Hot

Oh dear, the pun writer is back off holiday.

For this event, a Pickup or 4X4 is required, in a C Class 600 range, and so I went with a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor from 2011, with a share code of : 139383916.

For winning outright solo, or best two out of three in a convoy, we can take home a Subaru WRX from 2005. Much better than a stupid SUV like last week.

Seasonal Championship 2 – Ramble Scramble

This series of races requires an AWD vehicle, to a limit of A Class 800, and so I went with the same Jeep Trailcat as above. Share code : 118411445, in case you forgot.

For winning best two out of three in a convoy, or the whole thing solo, a Cherokee from 2014 will be yours.

Part 3: Other Challenges

Series 21 – Winter places some focus on the usual Photo Challenge, a Treasure Hunt and a Collectibles challenge. And the Horizon open makes its second appearance this week.

Photo Challenge – #StreetDog

This week, the challenge is to take a car, of any flavour, to the southeast of Lago Blanco, and take a wildlife photo near the camera equipment there. If that sounds rather vague, well, it does to me too.

I’ll post the location and my artistic effort below for your admiration/ridicule.

The reward? A new horn, that of a Predator Howl. Makes it all worthwhile.

Treasure Hunt – Seek and Enjoy

This Treasure Hunt seems entirely the same as the previous two weeks this week as we have to find all three of the weekly Pathfinder Challenges in the Accolades page. Only then can the treasure be ours.

The three challenges in question are all trails to find, marked at the start by a pair of green balloons  and then there are a series of red balloons to follow, until the trail ends at more green balloons. They aren’t tricky to follow, so go nuts.

They start in Cordillera, Playa Tranquila, and Ek’Balam.

The location of the treasure chest is shown below, and it has 250,000 credits inside.

Collectible Challenge – Carmadillo

We need to drive around to the north east of the Baja Circuit, and find and smash ten cardboard armadillos. Now, armadillos are usually pretty small, so hopefully these will be a bit bigger.

I’ll stick a picture of what we are looking for below.

For completing this challenge, we can get a pair of Farid Rueda Lion race gloves.Groovy.

Horizon Open – Country Roads, Take Me Home

For this flavour of the Open Racing, we have to race in and complete a Cross Country race series. We don’t have to win, and it is impossible again to recommend a tune as the class could be anything, but give it a go to win a great prize.

What is that prize? A Farid Rueda Lion relaxed fit tee. Gets about a bit this fella, doesn’t he?

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Forest Escape

In Forest Escape we need to clear a distance of over 350m, so we will need a bit of a run up!

Well, if any car can do it, it’s that old faithful, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, and my share code is: 109282883. Hitting the ramp at north of 180mph saw me sail past the target.

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – The Chosen One

We need to use any Rally Monster vehicle for this set of races, as long as they are in the A Class 800 range of tuning, anyway.

I decided to go with a Hoonigan Escort Cossie “Cossie V2”, as the choice wasn’t massive to begin with.

The share code is : 140648350.

Winning all the races, or two out of three in a convoy, will get us a new Forzalink phrase, “I have the high ground”. Woop.

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Zone – Palm Forest

I reached for the BMW X5M FE, with the share code : 519084427. With a distance of 340m, and starting from the north seemed to be the best bet. to clear, a decent run up is needed.

A Super Wheelspin is the prize.

Seasonal Championship – Letting off Steam

A Buggy is needed for this event, with a tuning ceiling of D Class 500. Yes, it’ll be a slow one!

I went with a classic Class 5/1600 Baja Bug, and the share code is : 115504920. I would say hold on tight, but I’m not sure you’ll be going quick enough.

For coming out on top, we can take away a Steam Boat car horn. Interesting.

With Series 21 underway, new monthly rewards are up for grabs. For a mere 80 points, you can take home a Wuling Sunshine and for 160 points you can have an Audi RS7 2021.

The monthly Rivals challenges are also live, with them both being EV challenges, one in Ek’Balam and the other using a Cupra Tavascan Concept car. Make sure you take these in at some point during Series 21 – unless you did them last week?

Grab enough points and Autumn also brings new prizes – the Chevy K-10 1972 for 20 points and the Rip Rod for 40 points.

And that’s your lot for this week and our little guide to the best cars and tunes of Forza Horizon 5’s Series 21 Winter.

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

As always, the comments section is below. We’d love to know if these cars and tunes have helped you out.
