There is no sign of any Spring-like weather outside my window, but in Forza Horizon 5, it is Spring already in Series 40 of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges.

Of course, this means new things to do as we attempt to finish this Series on a high.

Let’s go racing and stuff! Nearly Christmas, after all…

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Science meets Speed

The subject of Series 40 Spring’s car challenge is almost not a car, it is the Aerial Atom V8 500. Who needs a windscreen or bodywork?

Whoever thought of putting a V8 in a car that weighs about the same as a basket of soup is my kind of person. Good work!

Should you not have one already, go and buy it from the Autoshow – they will exchange it for 200,000 of your credits. Bargain!

Chapter 1 – Small but Powerful

Just like my wife!

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete. For a little more va va voom, try share code : 402745677.

Chapter 2 – Atomic Accelerator

Unsurprisingly, acceleration in this car is pretty vivid, with a claimed 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds. So, let’s get 6 stars at speed traps!

Chapter 3 – 25s Only

Take a photo of your car.

Chapter 4 – Road Magnet

Now win a road race, to prove this car is road legal. As usual, I used the Horizon Oval to make it fast.

Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 40.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.

The Trial, two Eventlab, a few PR Stunts, some races…

The Trial – Elbows Out

An A Class 800 Rally Monster is needed for this championship, and so the Hoonigan Cossie V2 is up. Share code for mine is : 140648350.

We smashed it last week, so let’s hope that the trend continues, as we attempt to win a Lexus LFA. Amazingly, not a Porsche!

Eventlab 1 – SHERMAAN Presents Festival High Speed Circuit

A Class 800 Modern Sports cars for this event, and so the GR Supra is wheeled out. The share code for mine is : 984217186.

An okay course that is well laid out, but not overly thrilling. Middle of the road, if you will.

The prize is a Saleen S1.

Eventlab 2 – MONAY98 Presents Mirage Raceway

We need a Caterham R500 for this event, which is unusual in itself – having a set car, I mean. I went with a stock car, which was exciting!

A good course made memorable by the hilarious handling of the required car, I liked this one.

Prize for completing this is a Super Wheelspin. Yes, another.

PR Stunt 1 – Speed Trap – Estadio

This week, the next two PR Stunts need the same car, an S1 Class 900 Track Toy. I used the Porsche 911 GT2 RS from 2012, share code : 129256081.

Hit the trap at over 170 mph to win this one. This is very tricky, as none of the roads to it are straight, but coming from the south seems a bit easier.

If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.

PR Stunt 2 – Speed Zone – Festival Speed Zone

Same car again, I fancy. We need to average the zone at over 100 mph. This is a short zone with a nasty bend in, so get the exit right to keep the speed up.

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

PR Stunt 3 – Drift Zone – Los Campos

S1 Class 900 Drift cars needed here, and it has to be the Formula Drift Mk IV Supra. No choice!

Score over 100,000 drift points to win. Piece of cake, and I reached the end of the zone with 160,000!

Not another Super Wheelspin?

Seasonal Championship 1 – 50 Years of the Porsche 911 Turbo

Any Porsche 911, tuned to S1 Class 900 is the car of choice here. The twist is that tuning appears to be disallowed, so I used the 911 GT3 R we won last week, as it has the highest level of any of them.

For winning out, we can take home a Porsche Turbo S ‘23, an exclusive car!

Seasonal Championship 2 – Half a Mil

A Class 800, Retro Supercars, and a price of less than 500K credits is the convoluted category.

I went with a Jaaaag, the XJ220, and the share code is : 123500759.

For winning, it is a Nissan GT-R we can slot into the garage.

Part 3: Other Challenges

A few things to turn your hand to this week, including some Open Racing.

Photo Challenge – #TRACKDAY

We need to photograph a Porsche in a race at the Horizon Oval.

Get in one, start the race and snap away! I went for an action shot, as you can see up top, but that is a Porsche, honest! Can you guess which one?

The location you need to be in is below.

The reward? A new Badlands Desert Scarf.

Horizon Arcade – Mini Games

Complete any Arcade mini game to win a prize. They can be drift, speed, wreckage, chaos or air, so pick your fave and let it rip.

Take home 3 whole points for doing so.

Horizon Open – Fast Track

Complete any Open race event in a Track Toy car to complete this week’s challenge. You don’t need to win, just take part.

Take home a new car horn, Falling, for doing so.

Treasure Hunt – ISO 200

The clue this week reads “Race past a camera to see a flash, reach the shutter speed and we will reveal some cash”.

There’s a picture of a Ferrari zooming about, so I’m guessing we need a Ferrari to hit a speed trap at over 200mph (the shutter speed in the title?).

The traps on the Highway let you get a good run up, and I used the car in the picture, the 599XX Evolution, but it will not pop for me. I’ve even used a Hennessey Venom F5 and hit a trap at 300 mph to no avail.

It appears that it is pot luck as to whether it unlocks for you, but the chest will appear in Mulege if you are lucky. I’ll put the location where it should be below.

The chest contains 300FP – if it appears!

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Hammer’s Shadow

The vehicle for the next two events is the same, an Extreme Track Toy tuned to S2 Class 998.

Step forward the Bugatti Divo, and the share code for mine is : 169915677.

Hit the trap at over 230  mph to complete this challenge. That’s a long run up!

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – Ahead of the Pack

Same car as above needed here, so I used the same model!

The reward for racing? A Porsche 911 GT2 RS from 2018.

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Devils Pass

Drift Cars tuned to S1 Class 900 are needed here, and so it has to be the Formula Drift Mk IV Supra in stock trim. I love this thing!

Score over 100,000 drift points to win out.

The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.

Seasonal Championship – Racing Retro

An A Class 800 Retro Sports Car is needed this week, and of the slim choice available, I chose a Nissan Skyline GT-R, the 1997 model, and the share name is “GTRA” with my GT, Red620Ti.

Completing the championship will get us a BMW M3 GTR – again, not a Porsche!

The rewards for Series 40 and Spring in Forza Horizon 5

With Series 40 coming to an end, the reward cars are certainly in reach. It’s the Porsche #92 RSR for 80 points and a Lotus 2-Eleven for 160 points that are up for grabs.

Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 40 – Baja California Trail and Horizon Mexico Circuit. The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.

Grab enough points and Series 40 Spring also sees you given access to the Porsche #70 935 for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!

Join us next week as we look at Series 41, with all the hijinks that it promises to bring.

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5.  It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
