It is nearly Christmas in Mexico, and so the Horizon Holiday Mixup has come to Forza Horizon 5. What this means for Series 41 and Summer of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges is that we have the usual mix of things and tasked to get on with, but with added opportunities for the pun writers to be unleashed.
Without further ado, let’s see what is on offer, as we hit summer of Series 41 shall we?
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – 40 Years of Nismo
The subject of Series 41 Summer’s car challenge is a car that relies on us winning another championship first, the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo.
Simply win the “Nissan EaZy” set of races before coming here. No buying of the car is needed!
Done that? Got it? Right, let’s crack on.
Chapter 1 – In Hot Demand
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete.
Chapter 2 – Badge of Honour
Nismo came from “Nissan” and “Motorsport”, apparently, so now we need to win a road circuit race. Oval here I come!
Chapter 3 – On the Up
Take a photo of your car.
As the Nismo model is upgraded over the standard model, we now need to reach a total of 400 mph over speed zones. Sounds like a long drive…
Maxing out at 176 mph, that’s three trips through the speed zone on the highway.
Chapter 4 – In the Red
Now all you need to do is simply bank 40,000 skill score because the car had red trim. These targets seem somewhat arbitrary this week…
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 41.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
Series 41 welcomes The Trial, two Eventlab, a few PR Stunts, some races…
The Trial – Honda First Day of Christmas
My true love gave to me…
Anyway, we need a B Class 700 Acura or Honda for this event, and so I chose a stock Civic Type R from 2016 – 699 out of the box!
We smashed it last week, so let’s hope that the trend continues, as we attempt to win a Nissan GTS-R.
Eventlab 1 – THEFALTYLAMP Presents Em Linden Circuit
We need an S1 Class 900 Track Toy. I used the Porsche 911 GT2 RS from 2012, share code : 129256081.
Some track and some racing. Nothing inspiring, and by the end of the three laps, I was glad to be done. Dull and lifeless, sadly.
The prize is a Ferrari 458, which we need for the treasure hunt!
Eventlab 2 – XRCOSWORTH01 Presents City Slicker Circuit
We need a Modern Sports Car tuned to A Class 800 for this event, and so I went with a GR Supra, share code : 984217186.
Fast and flowing, this track was fun to drive. An ideal palate cleanser after the last Eventlab…
Prize for completing this is a Super Wheelspin. Another. Bloody. Super. Wheelspin.
PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Salto de Rio
This week, all the PR Stunts need a C Class 600 car, and as they all seem to be a bit off-roady, I went with a pickup truck for all three. I used a SVT Raptor 2011, share code : 139383916.
But a word of warning: These are all pretty tough.
Jump over 128 metres to win
If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.
PR Stunt 2 – Speed Zone – Ranchito
Same car again and we need to average the zone at over 70 mph.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Trailblazer – Jungle Traversal
We still need a C Class 600 car for this event, and as it is very offroad, I chose the same Raptor again.
Finish with more than 10 seconds on the clock to win.
Not another Super Wheelspin?
Seasonal Championship 1 – Up to the Challenge
We need to take a Dodge Charger or Challenger, tune it to A Class 800, and then go street racing.
In stock trim, these cars are a tad wayward, so I went with a Challenger Hellcat from 2015. Look for share name “Hellcat” with my GT, Red620Ti.
For winning out, we can take home a Dodge Durango.
Seasonal Championship 2 – Exclusive Event – Nissan Eazy
B Class 700 and Nissan are we need to know for this event, and so I chose a Skyline GT-R, the 1997 R33 model, and the share code is : 224199956.
For winning, it is an exclusive Nissan Z Nismo we can slot into the garage.
Part 3: Other Challenges
A few things to turn your hand to this week, including some Open Racing.
Photo Challenge – #ELISENAVIDAD
I was waiting for this particular pun to appear!
Photograph any Lotus Elsie at the La Casa Solariega Player House for this challenge. See the top of the piece for my artistic effort.
The location you need to be in is below.
The reward? A new Reindeer Antler hat.
Horizon Arcade – Mini Games
Complete any Arcade mini game to win a prize. They can be drift, speed, wreckage, chaos or air, so pick your fave and let it rip. No tunes for this, but a Formula Drift Mk IV Supra will do the drift events solo easily.
Take home 3 whole points for doing so.
Horizon Hide and Seek
Complete a Hide & Seek event to win this prize. Being a Seeker still seems very unrewarding to me.
Take home a new Forzalink Phrase, Happy Holidays!, for doing so.
Treasure Hunt – Arctic Pics
The clue this week reads “To the Wonderland you’ll go, at the Stadium it’s found, to take your best photo with igloos around. The car you should snap is an Italian great, the shape is iconic it’s numbered four five eight!”.
Pretty easy I’d say… Take a Ferrari 458 to the Stadium, find some igloos and take a photo. See below for my pic, and then where the chest appears.
The chest is on the railway track, so you’ll have to do a bit of balancing to get to where it is.
It contains 300 FP.
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Rockslide
We need an A Class 800 car, any A Class 800 car, and then go sliding a bit. I chose a stock Hoonigan Twerkstallion, and your target is 180,000 drift points.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Avent-ure Time
This time around is another one of the championships that needs a particular car, in this case a Lambo Aventador, tuned to S1 Class 900. I went with an Aventador LP700-4 from 2012, and the share name is “Aventador” with my GT, Red620Ti.
The reward for racing? A Lambo Urus.
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Cascada Fuerte
Any car at all is needed for this challenge, as long as it is only D Class 500. Maybe we can push it off a cliff to get it going fast enough?
The target is 80 mph, and so I chose a Cadillac XTS Limousine in stock trim to try. Why not have a laugh?
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – It’s Super Hatchy
A B Class 700 Super Hot Hatch is needed this week, and so I chose a VW Golf R from 2021, share name “R” with my GT, Red620Ti.
Completing the championship will get us a Subaru Impreza.
The rewards for Series 41 and Summer in Forza Horizon 5
With Series 41 just kicking off, the reward cars will be out of reach for now, but at least I can tell you what we are aiming at – It’s the BMW i4 for 80 points and an Audi RS4 Avant for 160 points that are up for grabs.
Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 41 – Four of them to be precise! – Reservorio Sprint, Playa Azul Circuit, Rocosa Sprint and for the battery lovers out there, Estadio Circuit. Should keep us out of mischief. The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.
Grab enough points and Series 41 summer also sees you given access to the Exclusive Bentley Flying Spur for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!
Join us next week as we carry on looking at Series 41, and see what Autumn blows into Mexico.
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
