There was some serious hype surrounding the release of Gungrave G.O.R.E. on Xbox, Game Pass, PlayStation and PC at the back end of 2022, but if truth be told, it failed to set the world on fire. Can that change as some new grim gunslinging DLC hits home?

Gungrave G.O.R.E released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and through Game Pass back in November 2022, as Prime Matter and Iggymob delivered a new super stylish third person shooter to the world.

It put us in the shoes of Grave, a gunslinger who thought nothing of mowing down his foes in a blaze of bullets. And whilst it’s a game that looked good, especially in the cutscenes, and had a decently lengthy campaign, the shooting felt dates, the environments were basic and it just failed to hit the cool levels we expected. In fact, our review hammered in a 2.5/5 score, concluding with the words, ‘A true disappointment is what we have here in Gungrave G.O.R.E..‘.

It wasn’t quite the game we had hoped for, but now there’s a new DLC piece in town and this one may just give reason for players to jump back into Grave’s world.

It’s the Gungrave G.O.R.E. Death Ronin drop, following on from the previous O.D. Grave DLC. This one is priced at £4.49 – with a 10% discount in place if you’re a Game Pass subscriber – and will see you being able to run through the game as the Grim Reaper, taking your enemies down in the most stylish of ways.

Designed by Ikumi Nakamura, we’ll be honest and say that the addition of one small DLC piece for nearly a fiver feels a tad tight on content, but with the game present and correct in Game Pass, most Xbox players (at least), will be playing this for free. Surely that is then worthy of a little cash outlay?

If you are sold and have previously found joy in Gungrave G.O.R.E., then you can pick up the Death Ronin DLC from the Xbox Store. Just be aware you need the base game in order for this to be of any use. Expect to find it on PlayStation and PC too.

Let us know in the comments if you decide to grab it.

DLC Description:

Become the Grim Reaper and mow down your enemies in style with Death Ronin Grave, designed by Ikumi Nakamura.
