Six games leaving Game Pass is not to be sniffed at: that’s a faster rate than we’re getting games at the moment. But if you look at the list, you might be less concerned. Few of the games could be considered big hitters, so there might be fewer tears than usual.

The games leaving the service are Before We Leave (Console, PC, Cloud), Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition (Console, PC), Her Story (PC), Hearts of Iron IV: Cadet Edition (PC), and Umurangi Generation Special Edition (Console, PC, Cloud).

Spare a moment for the better games on the list. Before We Leave is probably our pick of the bunch, being a turn-based strategy that a) works well on console and b) doesn’t have you getting lost in menu after menu like you were circling Dante’s Inferno. We handed it 4/5 in review, saying “It’s fair to say that Before We Leave is perhaps more suited to a beginner than a true veteran of the genre, but there’s still more than enough here for everyone to find hours of entertainment”. We’re sad to say you go, Before You Leave.

We didn’t give a fantastically high score to Umurangi Generation Special Edition – on account of it being on the awkward controls side of things – but it was a unique Pokemon Snap-like experience that you may still want to try. We gave it a 3/5, saying “With more confidence in the world it has created, letting you explore and reveal it at a more relaxed pace, it might have been a winner. As it stands, Umurangi Generation Special Edition is stylish, but with an aftertaste of pain”. But yeah – try it anyway, if you get the chance.

As a reminder, while these games are leaving the service, they are still available to purchase on the Xbox Store.

In terms of the rest of the month, announcements are planned soon from Microsoft. Still, there’s some certainties. You can expect Planet of Lana on May 23rd (Console, PC, Cloud), Railway Empire 2 on May 25th (Console, PC) and Farworld Pioneers on May 30th (Console, PC).

Beyond May, there are a couple of games that are locked in for June. Amnesia: The Bunker is due on June 6th (Console, PC), while Dordogne is coming on June 13th (Console).
