There’s obviously a market out there for some Kaiju chaos, with the likes of Dawn of the Monsters giving us the opportunity to go on a destruction bender. Gigapocalypse wants to go just a tad further.

Previously only available on PC through Steam, Gigapocalypse makes a move onto the console lands, smashing down on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch players without a care.

It’s priced around $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99 and is playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch giving those who love a bit of Zilla and ton of Kong the chance to embark on some mayhem.

Created by the Goody Gameworkd team and picked up by Headup for publishing rights, Gigapocalypse is pretty much a love-letter to those old Kaiju monster movies that are headlined by Godzilla and King Kong. It gives players the opportunity to put themselves into the role of a Giga, a monster with one sole intention – to destroy.

Making your own monster, customising them as you see fit before traipsing across cities, turning them to rubble should never get old, especially when you get the chance to do so with an absolutely monster metal soundtrack pushing you along. With tons of mutations to enjoy, skills and skins to amend and a little pet to accompany you, this is certainly going to be of huge appeal. More so when you consider the Tamagotchi-styled minigames that will take place. Yeah, we got you at Tamagotchi, didn’t we!?

“We are delighted to bring Gigapocalypse to console gamers who want to let off some steam and smash stuff up,” said developer Goody Pundit. “With the many updates and improvements we’ve made during the game’s stint in Early Access on PC, the game is better than ever and I hope console players enjoy picking out a Giga from our monstrous roster and laying waste to everything in front of them!”

Gigapocalypse is available from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S today. It’s on PlayStation too, and Switch, and PC. What more could you want from this loud, punk, anarchic love-letter to the Kaiju classics?

We’ll let you know how it plays in review.

Game Description:

As a little kid, picking up your dragon toys, spewing fire, feels powerful and destroying everything is one of the best childhood memories for many of us. Now you become that giant monster in Gigapocalypse, a 2D pixel art destruction game, inspired by classical Kaijū movies such as “Godzilla” and “King Kong” and the game classic “Rampage”. Gigapocalypse features a selection of different “Gigas” from the Prehistoric era, the uncharted outer space and the forgotten history. Each with unique skills, mutations and manifold skins that can be unlocked with level ups. Start your destruction spree and destroy everything on your way through different beautifully detailed pixel style locations. Ever wondered how it looks like when a giant monster destroys a wild west town? Or clashing against the brave Knights Templar? Gigapocalypse has the answer. But beware: Nasty soldiers, wizards, drones and mechs will do everything to stop you! With each try your Giga will become more powerful until you will finally make it to the diversified, epic boss fights that await you at the end of each level. Complete quests, take care of your Giga in Tamagotchi-style mini games, find secrets to upgrade your Giga and its “home” and unlock cute, but yet lethal pets that accompany you on journey. Gigapocalypse is loud, punk, metal, anarchy and a lovely homage to the game and movie classics. It´s a game for the kid in all of us.
