The Antstream charge continues with 2 new additions

We’ve recently seen the Antstream Arcade subscription service expand with the likes of Super Turrican and games from Factor 5. But now a couple of further additions pop up, taking the charge to all new Berserk and Frenzy filled levels. 

Yep, today Antstream add both Berzerk (1980) and Frenzy (1982) to its library, ensuring there are new options for retro gaming fans to enjoy. Playing out as multidirectional shooters, created by Alan McNeil and Stern Electronics, you’ll find that each game is now complete with global leaderboards, save progress and more. 

If you weren’t around in the 1980s, then let us sort you out with a quick rundown of both Berzerk and Frenzy – it’s the latter that we remember fondly from first time around. 

Berzerk

Designed by Alan McNeil, Berzerk was originally released to arcades in 1980 by Stern Electronics of Chicago and was one of the first arcade games to feature speech synthesis. The game is played from a top-down point of view and consists of maze-like rooms filled with armed robots.

Frenzy

Two years later saw the launch of Frenzy, again by Alan McNeil and Stern Electronics. Frenzy was the sequel to Berzerk and as such followed the same style of gameplay. Both Berzerk and Frenzy made appearances on various early consoles after their arcade debuts.
