I bet you didn’t wake up this morning with a dream to play out a traditional manga about a 19th century Chinese Robin Hood, did you? Well, The Legend of Tianding is throwing you into the wanted shoes of Liao Tianding – robber of the rich, and feeder of the poor.

Releasing today onto Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass as well as previously being available on Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), The Legend of Tianding sees you action-platforming across early 1900s Taipei as a vigilante on the run from the Japanese authorities. The only way to escape, and to continue your thieving ways, is to battle it out with all manner of kung fu moves, grapple hooks, and advanced aerial combos. Think of this as a beautifully stylised manga version of Streets of Rage, and you get the picture.

As you progress through the story, taking on military leaders, greedy business top-dogs and much more as bosses, you’ll slowly acquire more gear and equippable talismans to tailor your version of Liao to your unique playstyle. Whether you duke it out as a tanky character and reduce the damage you take, or hope to zip around the screen, grapple hook in hand, when restoring stamina faster, you can be sure enemies will go flying left, right and centre.

If you fancy picking up a copy for The Legend of Tianding on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, then head over to the Xbox Store where it’s selling for £16.99. Game Pass subscribers can also pick this one up free of charge. Alternatively, the game is available on PC and Switch.
